My new garmin stryker 4 fish/gps transducer got wrecked somehow. Most likely have to order a new one as its impossible to attach to back of boat now as the ears are destroyed somehow. So as an experiment i fasco,ed the transducer to to bottom of the inner hull.I heated up the epoxy to get rid of bubbles .Will report on success or failure tomorrow.Figured id try it as i have nothing to lose atall.

Through the hull pucks have a narrow beam and will only travel through fiberglass or wood hulls when properly bedded, AL is a barrier to the sound waves and especially to a transducer with a wide beam.

P.S i took the boat out today to fish for coho salmon.I put on old faithfull,a solas amita 4 blade al prop just to see.Hit a top speed of 35 mph at 6000 rpm which is pretty good for a 60 etec on a 85 hp rated boat.Came on plane fast and got her to run on plane at 2900 rpm at about 13 mph which is great. That solas prop never ceases to amaze me! It made my 90 erude run great and now is doing it again with the 60 etec.

Watermann im pretty well expecting failure but like i said ive nothing to lose atall.Ive seem some people say they have had success and more say failure but even so i have to order a new trans kit so in the mean time why not give it a shot? I have my old low x125 as backup but she,s failing now also from old age i guess.I liked that little garmin she was a good unit for cheap.

Well dont know what to say, went out today and the fishfinder /gps works perfectly .Shooting through the al hull makes zero diff! Cross checked with another ff and all matches perfectly. That saves me 70 bucks!

Never noticed the temp im assuming that would not function.Lake superior has only one temp anyways cold! Other than that, speed, gps, depth ,fish all function normally.Wonder if it because its a dual beam and chirp?

Supposedly this is the only transducer that will work through the AL hull without signal loss. Alumaducer.

Forgot all about the pics, lol.Im saying it works for me but if you have the stryker 4 why not.I seem to remember a long term member on here saying that the idea that transducers cant shoot through al hulls was all balderdash! I still cant believe it worked with the fasco! If i encounter any issues i will post it but so far so good but it was only a short time but the readings exactly mirrored the other f.f.

Thanks guys! Not near as nice as some on here but a serviceable fishing boat, nothing more nothing less.Saves me 10g,s plus for a new boat for the etec.New boats are much heavier also! With the 4 blade solas amita ihit 34.9 mph gps good for a 60 etec/

So im just mulling over putting my transducer back where it should be.It seems to work ok in the present place but im a paranoid pete about maybe missing something even though im probably not, lol.I hate drilling holes in the boat so first im considering upgrading to the gt8 or gt15 transducer for the garmin stryker4.I have a 2 part epoxy with a supposed breaking strength of 4400 psi would that be good for attaching the plastic mount to the boat?Tomorrow i will most likely change my mind again, lol.

Great to see another fine SC SS hit the waves once again, nice work!

I've used plastic epoxy with varying degrees of success but regular epoxy most likely would fail as plastic is tough to glue down.
