Re: Just plain rude
My parents have a Home on Logan Martin Lake in Alabama. I was visiting there, on vacation, last week.
The town was tuning up for a huge $500K bass tournament to start last Tuesday, Needless to say, many of the pro bass fisherman were practicing all weekend.
Talk about rude. I was cut off, more than once, while pulling skiiers and tubes by packs of bass boats running together at 50+ speeds.
I know those guys are pro's and their livelihood depends on their abilities, but they could use a lesson in common on-the-water courtesy.
As mentioned previously, what we see on the water is just a small reflection of our society, as a whole.
I pride myself on my boat handling skills and my courtesy afforded to other boaters. I am a minority.
After last weekend, I'm all for liscensing of boat operators. Just because you can buy it doesn't mean you can operate it-courteously. I'm only for licensing if the money goes to on water law enforcement.
I have no fear of water police. I know I'm always in compliance and I don't do stupid things.
I'm NOT for speed limits. If the lake is open and I want to "open up" the Crownline, I want to be able to. I believe I showed great restraint, operating that boat.
The lake wasn't open so I didn't, open her up. I realize that a 26' boat running at 55+ is a formidable machine. I held back. I wish others had been restrained also, especially 20' bass boats with 225's.
