Here in the panhandle of Nebraska we don't have real lakes, there all reservoirs. The lake I go to is only 2,000 acres (very small).
Well, we were fishing at one end of the lake, only a few boats on the water, and the idiot tubing decides to come zipping past us. Not once but many times. How rude!
What happened to common curtiousy?

It jumped ship along with accountability, integrity, and honesty. The new trend is self importance and discourtesy.

I believe it is due to the star and planet alingment combined with sunspots! It has brought the idiot gene to the surface and it is focused on boaters with tubes, ski's and wakeboards.

It happens here too regardless of the size of the lake those boaters are attracted to people fishing. I have said it before and I will mention it again..... Deck guns are looking very attractive!

Hmmmmm....I think that same guys was on the Ohio River last night eepks. Wife and I with one of the grandkids anchored at the mouth of a creek just outside the marina.....just drowning worms. Guy comes out of the marina, hammers the rig and takes off. Stops and dumps a tube and rider and commences to pull the tube just outside the marina. Lot of seriously mad folks....me included.

Some people just have no idea about what courtesy is all about.

They're everywhere, esecially on the roads. Not as many on the water because not as many of them can afford boats. See, rudeness is a lesson learned by not learning life's lessons. In other words, they are ignorant in more ways than one. So if you run accross a pack of those pigs on the water, give them a wide berth -- they are either pirates, or they only stole the boat.

Love lakes that ban high speeds, PWCs, skiiing or tubing, etc.

Some lakes are reserved for fishing only. I like that.

Other lakes are dominated by noisy, fast and often irresponsible, rude boating. They might as well be no-fishing lakes. Leave them to "recreational" boaters and find the fishing only lakes.

There are two lakes (connected by going under a little bridge/overpass) a mile from where I live. One is open to everyone, the other is for non-motorized boats only. It's a nice/ quiet place to canoe, row, or fish.

Please, Thank You, You're Welcome. Not hard to remember. Let's use them. I hate it when the kid at the cash register hands me a wad of bills and coins with the statement "Here You Go". Is that a Thank You? Does anyone under the age of 40 know how to properly return change? Don't even get me started on spelling, aaargh! I've been on a personal crusade for years to show everyone I come in contact with a bit of common courtesy (have had to restrain myself in Boston traffic occasionally). I always hope the person I am courteous too will pass it on.

Guess this describes one of the reasons I love to fish At night. But let the sun start comming up and youll see some prety rude high speed bass boats going to thier honey hole, and 50 to 75 yards at 60mph is all the courtsy your gona get from some of them.. It wouldnt be so bad but thier is a mile of lake to the other side of them.:'(

My parents have a Home on Logan Martin Lake in Alabama. I was visiting there, on vacation, last week.

The town was tuning up for a huge $500K bass tournament to start last Tuesday, Needless to say, many of the pro bass fisherman were practicing all weekend.

Talk about rude. I was cut off, more than once, while pulling skiiers and tubes by packs of bass boats running together at 50+ speeds.

I know those guys are pro's and their livelihood depends on their abilities, but they could use a lesson in common on-the-water courtesy.

As mentioned previously, what we see on the water is just a small reflection of our society, as a whole.

I pride myself on my boat handling skills and my courtesy afforded to other boaters. I am a minority.

After last weekend, I'm all for liscensing of boat operators. Just because you can buy it doesn't mean you can operate it-courteously. I'm only for licensing if the money goes to on water law enforcement.

I have no fear of water police. I know I'm always in compliance and I don't do stupid things.

I'm NOT for speed limits. If the lake is open and I want to "open up" the Crownline, I want to be able to. I believe I showed great restraint, operating that boat.

The lake wasn't open so I didn't, open her up. I realize that a 26' boat running at 55+ is a formidable machine. I held back. I wish others had been restrained also, especially 20' bass boats with 225's.
