Re: just sharing a bit of work (pictures)

well was out in the shed going over my boat when i thought i could see the edge of a old repair on the corner of one section of the transom. turned out they had ground to far on the original fiber glass and left a small hole through to the plywood inside the transom. so water had penetrated causing rot. I tried to put it out of my mind, but it got the better of me and i am glad it did. Considering i have 100hp hanging off he back

Nothing like finishing off the day grinding at fiber glass

Very neat project you've got there:) It looks great with a bit of the chrome back on there, can't wait to see her all done.

Good luck finding the rubrail material. Hope you can get it locally.

Re: just sharing a bit of work (pictures)

Well went to my hardware warehouse today and was very happy to see the had small panels of marine ply in stock($29 AUD). so I got one and got it all cut out and sitting in. I will be glassing it in tomorrow, What a great transom One small section of ply, I will have it fixed in a couple of days, could of been done in one but I am on holidays. I am surprised that it is rated to 135hp. But it was holding a 100hp and I was surprised how rotten it was once I got into it, the old wood just fell out. For those people that are scared of transom, compared to doing a balsa floor, mine was easy. If I done this before my floor, my floor mightn't of stressed me out as much, but since I done it backwards I have cruised through my first transom :D

I will keep that in mind although my local boat shop aint real nice. I asked about buying a project boat befor i got this one and they said the only way they can sell me a boat from the back yard is if they fix it themselves for me..

Well the transom is done using marine ply made from Australian hard wood.. And its strong stuff. makes ply made from pine second rate. I will drill and seal the holes tomorrow

well the lighting is set and done now i have to trim the cabin... i have installed all led navigation lights anchor light cabin light and gunwale lighting for the night fishing

The picture of the floor of the rear of the boat is to show how well the floor is lit by the leds under the gunwale so no more lost sinkers and hooks in the night and easy re-baiting

And its a bathroom sink in the back not a kitchen sink lol

spent the day marking out templates for the roof lining project side of the boat. It took hours and sent me nuts and raised the aggravation levels slightly what a annoying job. but anyway the templates are made and am about to head out a get a sowing machine to stitch up the liner, have choose a black material with small black strips sown into it so it wont pick it up in a photo but it should look the part, If you like black :p

When I made my Bimini top I found working with fabrics surprisingly difficult. It takes a ton of patience. I find it much much easier to make something from a rigid panel.

not much has happened for along time, still dont have the lining in the cabin but am slowly getting back in the mood with a bit of work on the motor getting done this weekend to get it mounted back on the transom so hopefully i will get back into it soon, just had way to much going on the past few months to even attempt working on the boat or its been way to cold in the shed

Well have you ever started a job and thought why the hell did I start this, then also realized that even if the finished result isn't like you pictured it you have to look at the positives. Well I just went through this hit the point of no return so had to slog on then wasn't happy so focused on the positives.

POSITIVES:

1: All wiring to port starboard lights, anchor light and cabin light is now out of site.
2: My creative children's art work inside my cabin is hidden.
3: With a layer of foam sheeting over roof the cabin has a insulation for night fishing weekend trips.
4: 40 years of neglect on the fiberglass cabin interior roof is also hidden.

For a first attempt at sewing and attaching a full roof lining probably not to bad, but not as I pictured and a picture says a thousand words so here are some photos
