Looking to mount my kicker motor mount on my 88 Crestliner 3.7 I/O. The mount I bought is heavy duty with 2 down positions. I am planning on using about a 9.9hp but have not purchased the motor yet. I was told by a good friend (Elderly boat mechanic) that most of the older small outboards were long shafts ( most likely what I will end up with).
He said mount the kicker plate so that when it is in the down position, the measurement between the top of the mount, (where the motor will sit) and the bottom of the hull should be 19 inches. Should this be the measurement in the second to lowest position, and the lowest position be used for a short shaft motor? any help would be greatly appreciated!
