Here are some pic's of my control box .It is a 1998 searay F-16 jet boat there is no identifying marks on the control so I don't know what make it is. The cover is plastic and I can't pry it off . Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: Laddies please help throttle cable broke

Rowboat, Without knowing what you have, the only thing I might suggest would be for you to go to the accessorie section on BAM Marine site to see if it is one of the boxes that Mercury built, the you can let us know the model. If it's not one of theirs try Teleflex/Morse site, just anouther thought would be try the P.W section or Searay section here or see if SeaRay has a parts site on the web? Wish I could be more help but I have never serviced P/watercraft their just to much hassle for us old farts--Bob

Re: Laddies please help throttle cable broke

OK, thats a teleflex control. First remove the cables at the engine (unless there is enough slack to pull the control head from the gunwale) next move the control rearward an d remove the front of the box from the hole, then side the box forward and out of the hole, there should be 2 yellow or yellow/red wires going forward out of the box, they are wires for neutral shift switch, if the is enough slack you will not have to disconnect them, probably not I usally cut them and refasten with stake ons DON'T LET THEM SLIP AWAY. Then on the back of the box the cable is held on with a cotter pin and held in place with hinged fastener, Be sure to fasten the broken cable to the new one or a fish tape to help the reinsallation of the new one. Sorry about the delay hope this helps--Bob

WOW do I feel dum ;:% I got flash lite in behind control box and found that cables were jammed up on gunwhale therefore wouldn't let control box move out on front enough to move forward . I really appreciate the help and contacts you boys gave thank you very much again
