I have a 2001 Larson 190LXI 19' Bowrider. 4.3 GL Volvo Penta SX

I Have had the boat for a few years now and have generally liked the prop, the holeshot was great but top speed was lower than i was wanting... i have currently a 14.5 x 19P 3 blade Aluminum solas prop. this past weekend on our annual last trip of the season, i hit a cable on a dock and tore the prop.. it tore a small piece out and it is slightly out of balance now so it seems like a good time to get a good prop.

I can get between 40-45 on a good day with perfect water at about 4200RPM it will rev higher but not really by much..

what kinds of changes can i realistically get for more cruising speed? where should i start on a prop.

Thanks!

If your speed is with the boat speed-o then that can be suspect

The more important thing is if your tach is accurate. You should be in the 4400 to 4800 rpm range

If your tach is accurate then you need to pitch down to 17. Your setup should be able to get more rpm, so I'm thinking there is other things that need checked. If your tach is accurate then need to check timing, compression and over all health of the motor

It will hit 4500 RPM i just normally keep it below that. the tach should be accurate, i had the gauges checked and calibrated a year ago or so... or at least as accurate as they can be (VDO auto style gauges) What can i use for speed? is there an app? i opened waze that normally has speed on it and it didnt recognize me with being on the water...

We need to know Wide open throttle RPM without you limiting it. You first said it WOT is 4200, now you are saying it can hit 4500. We need to know the max RPM with full throttle (throttle maxed out) and a normal load (gear, people, fuel, ice chests, etc.) Without accurate info, the less accurate the replies will be, we are basing replies on what you say, and the info you are giving has a large gap.

verify that the throttle control pulls the engine throttle plate against the stops

then come back and report what the max RPM is with you standing on the throttle control (giving 'er all she's got) and trimmed out to get the top speed?

okay so full throttle all the way down trimmed for max speed ON GPS and note RPM. Got it
