I just bought a 2007 Larson LXi 208 Bowrider with a Mercrusier 5.0 MFI engine (260 HP). The boat has an Alpha drive. I have no idea what prop I currently have but I am looking for some suggestions on SS props. The 208 weighs about 3,300 loaded on the trailer (not including the trailer). Any suggestions?

Re: Larson LXi 208 Question

WOT is about 4800 RPM / 49MPH (GPS) as far as I can tell right now (I have about 9 hours on the 5.0MFI so I am still in the break in period). I do know the current prop is aluminum and 3 blade. Does this help? The boat is in dry storage so the only time I see it it is in the water. I would drag it home but I do not think my accord would like that.................

Re: Larson LXi 208 Question

Sounds like you are doing pretty well with the standard prop.

If your boat is near by look at the side (hub) of the prop for some numbers. The last two numbers, just before the P, is the pitch.

You may want to try an SS model of the same pitch.

Just a thought.

Re: Larson LXi 208 Question

Thanks all for the advice. As soon as I see the boat again (it is in dry storage at the marina) I will try to get the info off of the current prop.

Re: Larson LXi 208 Question

Why not take a look at the prop barrel or the hub. The diameter and pitch are usually stamped in one of the two areas, or there is a part number stamped on the prop. Without that "crucial" data we simply can't help.

Re: Larson LXi 208 Question

I would recommend the hustler alum. They only cost $79 and you can test a 19" and a 21" for $160. They are the exact shape and design as their SS props but way cheaper but performance is within 1% for the cost of a throwaway prop.

When I want speed I throw on the 21" and I can do 65 MPH with my Tahoe Q6 (V6 220 MPI) and when I'm pulling a tube or have a bunch of people I throw on the 19". It only takes about 5 minutes to change the prop out and the performance is pretty close to any SS prop.

I also get about 7-8 MPG with the hustler 21" doing 45 MPH (3400 RPM) and almost zero slippage on turns with this prop.
