Latest problem in the rebuild- I think this one is big

I dropped the deck back on, and it doesn't fit...
Everyting is ok except the bow. It looks like the bow settled in on the bow roller & is approx 1 inch in from the deck lip.

I currently have pulled it out with an eye bolt and haqve screwed everything together. The deck and hull have 5200 in there to replace the staple that were applied at the factory.

There is significant pressure on that strap, and I am terribly afraid that as soon as I release pressure the screws will simply pop through the glass & I'm still hosed...

On to the question.
If I let it sit like this for the winter, will the bow take a "set" in the current position, solving the problem? Or do I need to pull the deck back off & cut the joint between the floor & hull allowing the hull (bow) to move forward and release some of the pressure that way?
Or is it hopeless...

Truly sorry for your troubles. While I don't have a solution to your problem I do thank you for posting it. My theory is that there was some twist or other force applied when you put the new floor in. Once it set it maintained that shape. That tells me that when I do mine I need to put my top half on to hold it true while the epoxy sets.

looking at this photo i have to wonder if the deck moved a bit while it was off ?

its there any hole under the front seats to reach the joint and use nuts and backing to pull it toghter ?

I am pretty convinced that the issue is with the hull. I believe that the boat was pulled too far onto the trailer & while the structure was out it sagged down a bit. As it did so, the bow rollers pressed the bow up and in, where I (in blissful ignorance) cut and installed the stringers and floor to fit the new shape.

Update.
I pulled all the screws and lifted the front of the deck (thank God the 5200 hasn't cured) and took to the floor with a grinder where it meets the hull. Absolutley nothing moved... So it is still being held in place by the keel(?) stringer.
I did add some boards to allow me to screw the halves together securely.

I really don't want to have to pull the floor and start over! Which leads me back to my initial question. If I can hold it in place long enough, will it eventually relax into that position?

Mine was a little off when I put the top back on. I put the top back on, and rivetted my way from the back to the front. By the time I got to the front, everything was lined back up. You might have to do the same thing. When the top is off, the sides flex outward, which pulles the bow inward. Starting at the back and working forward sucks the sides in enough to push the bow back out. Good luck...

I agree with JasonJ.

Even though your floor is pretty much set, there is a allot of give in the sides.

As you secure, from the rear, it may get allot closer.

ya, they dont always even go together well out of the mold, put the hull in the sun, and the deck in the shade, stretch it out with the trailer like your doing and start from the back like the guy 's said, the fact that you have the old screw holes should make it easier to keep it lined up the same as it was before, use some of the old holes for pop-rivets to help the alignment while moving toward teh bow, you will get it eventually.

The hull will take a new set after being re-attached to the deck. It will take time and some heat (like a few 100* August days).

I agree with Jayson. Also putting in the extra mounting boards will help.

Cool!
Dropped the deck back on and screwed the heck out of the front end with the additional mounting boards. Everything came together (with appropriate pressure on the strap). After everything was secure I gradually released the strap & it held, no bad sounds or anything! (I had to know)
Hope to get the engine mounted Monday then will likely wait for spring.

looks like ya got a little over bite there... instead of using rivits or screws, why not use bolts backed up with an aluminum strip about 3/4 inch wide and 1/8 thick and however long it takes to go around the inside of the seam and pull it all together.......good luck

That's great news. I can imagine how you must have felt after all that hard work thinking it wouldn't go back on. I wish you much success as your project progresses. Keep us posted.
