Hey guys,

I'm thinking about purchasing an LCW towerless wakeboard rack as i'm sick of my boards taking a bunch of room in the boat as my ski locker isnt big enough for a board. I have done a search on here and have only came up with this one thread, http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=501201

I was wondering if anyone else has used this rack and has pictures of the rack mounted anywhere else on the boat? I like the spot on the swim deck but was thinking that would get in the way of the rope while boarding with boards on the rack.

Thanks guys!

I'm looking to install the rack on my boat pictured here and not sure where the best place would be-

If you go to the "about" tab, there are some pics. Not very good ones, but they are there.

If you wanted... i know i have run across a guys DIY wakeboard rack project. They were made from pvc cover in foam and mounted over the sides. It made storage of the boards and removal of the rack when not needed a cinch. They didn't look bad at all! I used to have the pictures and have been surfing the net for that forum for like 20 min now. I try to find it

Re: LCW Towerless Wakeboard Racks

I'm looking into getting this rack - http://cgi.ebay.com/Quick-Release-R...ultDomain_0&hash=item2c5e7755a3#ht_500wt_1202 and mounting it on the rail that runs under my windows (you can see in the picture above) With mounting one of these very close to the support on the rail and maybe building a little bit more support somehow do you think this would work? I obviously want to make this as strong as possible as I don't want to rip the rail off and damage the boat if i hit a big wake while cruising. I would obviously be smart when boards are on the rack but some things you just cant avoid so I want to be prepared. Anyone have any thoughts or comments on more of a support?

Here is something i really like but do not want to drill a hole in the boat just yet-

I thought about mounting in a similar place on the side of the boat on my stingray but then watched closely as I turn sharp and found water would get all the way up there on my boat with a quick turn. Thus, I went with a tower instead. Whatever you do it is sweet having the boards off the ground.

I also thought about that, but I guess it would just have to be a sacrifice I'd have to accept, and to be honest I think I would have to be doing one hell of a power turn to get water that high as that bar is actually higher than the lowest part water could get in the boat back near the sun deck, (I know in a power turn the water would not be that high, just using for reference) With the boards slanted more straight up as opposed to angled out I don't think there would be a problem.

My ONLY concern is if I do get this and place it on that bar if it will be strong enough to withstand the weight, like i said i would try to put other support on it as well to take some of the weight off the bar but I'm sure there would still be a decent amount of weight resting on that bar.

I do eventually want a tower, but this would cost me around $120, while the tower i want is over $800... Down the road the boat will definitely be getting a tower but the wallet just cant handle that right now unfortunately.

So do you guys have any ideas/thoughts on other supports, if the bar can handle this or any other thoughts?

Thanks so much!

The thing that is kind of leaning me against the LCW and Rusty rack's is the fact I would have to drill holes to mount a new cleat in the middle of the boat, I like the fact of the possibility of being able to mount it straight to the bar already installed with no new holes in my new (to me) and in very good condition boat.

Re: LCW Towerless Wakeboard Racks

Thanks for that thread pat8839, Im just not a fan of the look of the Rusty Racks, they do not look clean/finished IMO. I'm looking for something cleaner and more professionally-made looking.

With that said the rack i posted before is exactly what I'm looking for and still just waiting to see if anyone has any input on the strength of those bars and any ideas for other support...

Thanks!
