Re: LED Lighting
I haven't seen the the ones roozter linked are constructed, so not sure if I'd replace the pig tails. If it's a simple soldered on connection, I'd probably remove the wire and solder on a 20' wire,,, so you have a continuous wire run. Then seal up the soldered on connection with 3m5200. But,,, I haven't seen how the wire connects and just guessing. Easiest would be to just extend the existing pig tail, but that would depend on how well the factory connected the wire.
The rope lights I used had a "needle" type connector that pushed into the 1/2" thick rope, so I just sealed those up with some 3m5200 and extended the existing zip-wire with some 18ga speaker wire. LED's draw little current so you don't need heavy wire. Might be kind of rinky dink to use speaker wire, but I don't see the need to spend $$$ on high quality wire for courtesy lighting. If you are in salt water, it's a whole different story as you need to make sure you use tinned wire, plain copper wire will corrode with exposure to saltwater.
I'm sure others will recommend marine wire, but I'm not. I take the time to seal up the connections, liquid electrical tape and heat shrink tubing, to make sure water does not get into the wire. That also goes for the ends of the strips, dip it on some 3m5200 and let it dry before mounting, so moisture does not wick up into the strip or rope. These lights are not marine rated so you have to do your best at sealing them up from water intrusion.
