Man, that thing blows my mind. It's gotta be making more than 310 bhp at the prop . . . :confused:

Re: Let's see your engine

I think the motor is completely stock other than the silent choice. It has a bit of a lope to it but sounds just like another 7.4 I had. What's it going to do with a little more prop on it?
BTW, you're not the only one curious... we all are. A buddy of mine had the identical drive (7.4 / Bravo 1) in his 22' Scarab, it would only go 62. Reasons that maybe, all together, give it the extra speed;
* It feels like a very light boat
* Quite a low deadrise
* Nice clean shiny hull
* Good Mirage prop
* Loose nut behind the wheel
Don't know what else it could be.

This engine has been my life for the last 10 years . . .
It is a pilot ignition, homogenous charge, MPI, diesel :confused:
Any guesses how it works? Dunaruna and RPJS can't play.

Re: Let's see your engine

Wow that was quick . . . It is, however, as efficient as a regular diesel. It runs 92% natural gas at full load.
Around 80% average in high load applications. The rest diesel. It uses stock diesel injectors
for "pilot" ignition of the gasseous fuel.
The nat gas is injected very similar to MPI gasoline engines.
It is helpful to think of the diesel injectors as a liquid spark-plug.
But we aint got no stinkin' spark plugs :D

ZmOz - Cool pic... reminds me of your avatar :)
QC - Yes, but will it make a boat go 67.7?
Your engine is a glimpse of the future. Neat stuff!

QC. Does a normal diesel convert to multi fuel or are they built specifically.
When you say "natural Gas", is that what I know a CNG (compressed natural gas) or is it LPG, or is it something entirely different.
Cheers
Phillip

Re: Let's see your engine

Phil, L.P.G is Liquified Petroleum Gas, our American friends call it propane. (LPG is in fact a combination of propane & butane).

QC is talking about natural gas. CNG is Conpressed Natural Gas and LNG is Liquified Natural Gas. I believe that he is refering to LNG.
