Thank you JustJason, that was a bit more helpfull. I do appriciate it. for now though I need to leave this site. It's a shame. I did not infringe upon the threads of others for my own childish fun, but that's what this has turned into. I do have a rather good since of humor but this is just malitious. If I wanted to cut up I would have gone to a cut up site. these other guy are on a roll pleasing themselves. this is most distasteful and a disgrace. Maybe I'll catch you one a site where grownups can talk. Later.

My current drive system is 2000 GM 5.0l with a Volvo Penta SX-M out drive. I found and have purchased a modified 79 302. This 302 now puts out 365 horses and can run up to 8000 rpm. The 302 has been pulled after 3 hours of use from a Mercruiser Gen I out drive. The bolts on parts are still on the tail of the engine from the Gen I. Now I need to figure out what parts I need to connect this engine into my existing 2000 SX-M. What will I need to replace on the replacement engine to match my current out drive? I have not picked up the replacement engine yet. I will do so in about 2 weeks. I am in Texas and have to go to Florida for the engine. Just want to be ready with the needed parts.

The replacement engine:

THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS AN EDELBROCK ALUMINUM PERFORMANCE RPM , THE CARBURATOR IS A BRAND NEW HOLLEY 600 VACUUM SECONDARY ELECTRIC CHOKE WITH A 1" SPACER. As previously stated, I never intended to run higher than 5500 rpm. In fact, I am adding a limiter for that assurance. As for whether it?s for a boat engine or not, I can?t say, but it was built for a similar boat to mine, and has been proofed in that boat. As for all that money, $820.00 is not so bad, huh? I am hearing a lot of assumptions and I need data. For instance, I really do know the differences between marine and auto bolt-ons. This engine is a temp engine only for me. I want to pull my current 5.0, tear it down and discover my problem. If it is an easy fix, it will be repaired and put back in the boat. I live on a lake and regardless of anything else, I have guest that come here a weekend at a time. I'm a Mechanical Engineer but working on my own boat is new. I am retired and have the time. If the engine goes, with only what I am intending to use it for, I would be very surprised, but I wouldn't be hurt in the pocket too bad. As for the hp, I am well aware that I will never see all that hp at the rpms I am limiting to. As for the engine itself, I only know what the seller has stated. I have my reservations as well. I am looking to install an all new drive system when I have finished my research. My question was not regarding my choice of engines, rather how to make a connection. I'm sorry, but I do wish to stick to the subject here.

HT32BSX115 seems to be the only one that gets it and I want to thank you for the info. I am exploring other options for a permanent engine and only wish to use this one for 2-3 weeks at a time. Once the 5.0 is repaired, it will be re-installed while I seek my permanent and proper engine. Now unless you of you have and $800.00 good engine to part with, I think I?ll stick to my current plan. Now is there any more info you folks can provide regarding getting this engine installed and contribute to that end, please feel free to contribute here.

Yes Black as, I considered many alternatives. As I stated this is only a very short term change. That; said, and in response also about boating and it's expence, I am looking at a long term solution buying a complete new system. I am looking a 5 figures for all that, this is a short term low budget solution to my problem. Even rebuilding my current system is in an option considered along with simply repairing my current motor. Your solution is High dollar, most likely will require modification to the boat and is not the direction I want to go. Thanks anyway.

The only thng dumber than this a-hole's posts is the actual original e-bay ad....anybody who would buy this very poorly described, if not outright misrepresented piece of crap motor, deserves whatever they get in my opinion and definitely don't deserve the honest good intentions of anyone currently posting on any of i-boats forums, in my opinion.

I am no longer working for others. But engineers try many things before you get the toys you have to play with. If a part doesnt work, we can learn as much about a failier as a success. If we cant find a part, we draw one up, run a few numbers. From the keyboad at the end of your fingers, to parts and tools you play with came from engineers. I am intinding to put around my lake with the kiddies on board so they can have some fun. that's what boating is about. I am only concerned with the safely of the assembly, not whether it will do 50 knots. Only if it wont blow up for just a couple of weeks. When i am finished with this engine I'm makeing 1500.00 on it buyer, already lined up. How is spend my money is not concern to anyone else. If it runs, goes about 20 knots and then lets me get a return on my investment, I am happy. seems some of you forgot what boating was about. Others just need their nappy changed, and their but spanked.

Tex I have been around a bit also. I can even spell waste. The guys are really trying to help you. Trying to find the old stuff to make that engine work is not a good idea. The GM truck engine with your stuff on it will be a much better setup.
