Hi all experts!!!,
A couple of years ago I nabbed my dad's old boat for fishing. '85 16' Smokercraft "Big Fisherman" Aluminum V-Hull with a Johnson 40 on it. I hadn't used that boat for years, and the memory is a little foggy, he said it always has had this problem but I can't remember it. Anyhow....
The boat really has no problem getting up on plane, even with 3 (approx) 180# guys and some gear in it. However, as soon as it's up, it's got a helluva list to the port side. When not on plane, it sits nice and level in the water. There are no tabs, etc on it. We have tried shifting all the gear, gas tank, and battery over to starboard to compensate, it helps, but really has no big effect.
Is there something dumb that I simply don't know? Would trim tabs or a foil help? Where we go fishing we really aren't up on plane very much but it would be nice when we are to not feel like we will end upside down lol.
