Really strange question here.

Thinking of taking my 24 ft Cabin cruiser to a new destination for a few days. Along the way I may have to stop for the night. Since the boat has everything I need really (bathroom, shower, stove, sink, beds) can I just pull into an RV park and stay the night? I'd want to plug into power and just leave her hooked to the truck. Any reason I can't or SHOULDN'T do this?

To answer the "why?" Well it's cheaper than a hotel, and I like being on the boat.

Thanks in Advance,

C

Yea why not. Years ago fishing with my dad, we pulled the boat each day and camped in it on fishing trips

You can probably do it, just don't let anyone else know you are planning on doing this, and hopefully knowone will actually see you.:joyous:

call ahead and make sure the rv park is ok with it... some are and some are not... I actually made myself a shore power cord that has a female marine plug for the boat and a male 30a rv plug for the campground

do not try to use marine heat a/c systems out of the water tho

Yes, do it. Depending upon the park and total length of your rig, you may be located in a designated area to accomodate you snd taking turn radius into consideration. It is also worth it to surf around for better rated RV parks, some can provide great views, pancake breakfast offerings, and maybe a boat launch.

You will also be required to post pics here.

Enjoy.

Re: Live in boat at RV park.

Call the RV park and make sure it's OK. Some of the ones I've stayed at had a rule of no boats/boat trailers in the RV lot, though in your case, your boat is the RV. (Wouldn't want some grumpy ol' phart in the park causing you issues...) I've tent camped in a couple RV parks, off season when they were happy to have the business, so it may not be an issue.

It would probably be frowned upon to start spouting off the normal boating jargin late at night or early morning though...

- LAND-HO!
- SHIVER ME TIMBERS!
- AVAST ye' BLOODY LANDLUBBERS!

Also, we desert rats don't think of freezing much, but it's to be considered if climbing up to high elevation this time of year. I checked and Loa, UT up by FishLake is into the low 20's at night. I kind of doubt your going up there, but thought I should throw it out. I've been up there this time of year fishing, an it's "brisk" at night... (Need to drain the engine if the boat isn't in the water.)

+1 call the RV park just to make sure, but they shouldn't have an issue with it. Its an RV, just a strangely shaped one! I'd even drop the anchor just to make it look more official! :D

I live in my rv year round and travel for work... trust me on this one... many will be fine with it but check ahead of time to be sure often times the owners make the rules but do not ever even step on site and the managers are not allowed to make judgement calls..... btw in many areas there IS no off season.... a large percentage of rv'ers are workers instead of tourists so it's always a good idea to call ahead to see if there is even a vacancy.

I'd go one better. Find the RV parks on the water with docks. Spend the day on the water and stay in the boat at the dock overnight. If you're gonna be on the boat, be on the water....

Thanks everyone, we want to have power hook-up so no wally-mart, but I see the RVers here all the time. We already called the RV park they said it would be fine. It is on the Lake (Lake Havasu) But my wife can't sleep on the boat she gets seasick, so she wants a hotel for the night, but this may be cheaper and a good story to tell..hehe. I just wanted to see if anyone else had ever done it and if so what problems we might have. The big one I see is getting in and out, but we have an extended ladder.

Set an alarm and move it a little. :) Join Good Sam's club and put the sticker on the boat. Poof - An instant Amphi-Travel Trailer and you can get some discounts too. But do call ahead.

We stayed a a koa last year in a cabin and our friends were in campers (suckers) and they want me to bring the boat next year, the koa said no problem. I told them I would park it & drop the anchor and drink a few beers on the swim deck. :)

Thats strange I thought all Walmarts allowed RVs and big rigs over night. I work next to Wallyworld and every single day there are trucks and RVs in the lot. There is one outside my door right now.

Re: Live in boat at RV park.

We camp a lot in the summer at Colorado State Parks...because our group has 2-3 boats, campers and vehicles we ofter get add'l spaces just for parking the boats...I know it might upset people who drive thru looking for a spot to camp over the busy weekends, but hey we make most of our reservations 6 months in advance...

My advice, use the state parks? Some have full hook-ups and usually boats are not even an issue..I've charged mine over night many times without any questions!

Plus, if you're trying to save $, they're much cheaper than the private campgrounds?!

Have Fun, I suggested this idea to friends that either want a boat or a camper....problem solved!
