Thats a pretty cool concept. I would like to know more about this. What in particular I like is that there are no mechanical fittings getting buried under the deck
that makes service nearly impossible. The logic works. I suspect this would only be used when the boat is stationary, which makes sense anyway.

Hey KC, Just in case...I want to clear up that the sketch is related to the "simplest" system I described and related to in the "Ouachita" build...that is the type of live well that particular boat has...even though they are going to add a pump to aid in recirculating/aerating the well...
I did not mean to imply by my statement, following the sketch, that was the type of system I am working on in my boat...
I just came up with the sketch to help visualize the physics of water in this case...
The system I am concocting to build for my tub involves the use of pumps and valves, similar to what is shown in the "Flow-rite" site, since my live wells will need a water level in them somewhat higher than the water line...
Sorry for any confusion...:)

Woodonglass, gm280, GT1000000?

Thanks a ton. The last thing I want to do is invest all this money in a livewell, get out on the lake and have the boat fill will water and sink because I?m under the water line. The wife would never let me forget it.

You guys shed a lot more light on things. So I have to look a little closer at my boat to see where my water line is and what I can get away with.

I have some pics of the boat when I first got it. In fact I had posted it here. I?ll see if I can find the old thread. I?ve done some work on it since but I?ll post some of the old ones to show you where the old livewell was.

Stay tuned?.

Lets see if the link worked ... Not sure if you can do this with a tin boat though ...

This is the way we put the boat build GT posted together ... Only difference is I did not add the shut off under the pump .. Haven't water tested yet but hopefully real soon ..

Update... Boat is with my fabrication guy. I've been corresponding with a sales guy from Flow Rite and he has been a big help. I think I have a pretty go plan put together so I will keep you guys posted as the build progresses.

i really wish I'd have seen this earlier. I have a 48" composite livewell with the fittings still on it that I'm trying to get rid of and could have probably saved you a bunch of money and weight.

I made one of the cooler live wells. Had an old bilge pump added about 5' of hose and about 10' of wire with a 12v plug end and an inline switch.

Drop the pump over the gunnel, turn it on to fill. Drop the pump in the cooler and hook the hose to a spring clamp for aeration. Hang the hose over the gunnel to drain. Moves from boat to boat real easy.

Can still be used for keeping hops and barley cold when not used for fishing.
