Good Luck! I just got my first boat (somewhat of a fixer upper) but I'm hooked, nothing like owning your own boat. :)

Good luck Trim. BTW, did you know the weatherman said 90% chance of rain on Monday in our area. Where is the lake test? Try for Keystone or Ft. Gibson in the larger areas; larger wakes and waves to really test the ride.

Yeah I know about the rain, dangit. Suppose to be like that the next few days so the lake test will probably have to wait. The plan was Keystone. Hopefully it will clear up by Tuesday or Wednesday.

I think I'd pick Grand or Skiatook Lake over those options, especially if neither Trim nor the salesman know Ft Gibson very well, Keystone is just plain dirty. Ft Gibson can help you lose a prop/lower unit quickly if you don't know the area well. I believe the boat test is gonna be out of the question until Thursday at the earliest with the amount of rain they are predicting/flash floods/etc.

Re: Looking to buy, need some advice

I just bought a brand new 185 bayliner br last July and if I would have waited till november, I would have saved about 4 thousand. I dont regret buying it one bit. I was sure happy to have got one with the 4.3L engine. I topped her out at 57 mph with just myself in it. I just ordered a wakeboard tower and custom stereo system to be installed before this boating season.

Yeah Thursday looks like the earliest and that is if we get lucky. Stupid weather, I've been patient but this sang weather is making it difficult lol.

I agree that Grand would be best (especially at the dam), but would be surprised the salesman would travel over an hour to do the test. I don't like Skiatook because of the smaller exposure to wind/chop/wakes. Push the salesman for Grand. . .

I agree, but with the location of the dealership, it's 45 minute drive to any of them, maybe an extra 10 minutes to get to Langley @ Grand. I mainly just hate the dirty water at Keystone, lol. We are getting quite the toad-strangler at the moment, Grand's about the only lake that won't go up 15' due to all the rain, lol.

The salesman did say he would meet me half way somewhere if we can't do it in the next couple days while I'm in Tulsa.
Might be able to talk him into Grand.

Haulbazz, I cleaned up my inbox so it should be good to go.

Re: Looking to buy, need some advice

He said the test went well and is working on procurement of the vessel forthwith. Mentioned a good bit of bow rise on full-throttle from a stop, but I explained that it was normal on most boats. I also mentioned initial drive position, but he wasn't positive that the drive was all the way down. It came down after 2-3 seconds once it got on plane, but I told him if it bothered him he could always go the smart tabs route.

Everything is coming to order. Waiting on the money to be wired. Should be driving off with her in about an hour. She ran great. Got up to speed real nice. Like haulnazz said the bow jumps up real quick but plained out in just a couple seconds. Not sure if the trim was down all the way.

Congrats on the purchase. Upload some pics of the new purchase and get to work on a naming ceremony if it doesn't already have an acceptable one!
