The 5.0 is a workhorse, and it is one of the most proven and tested designs in the history of internal combustion engines. Will last when cared for and is well-known to any mechanic, with tons of parts available at a fair prices.

Re: Looking to buy, need some advice

That's actually kind of a hybrid hull. It's not what I would consider a deckboat, mainly due to the interior layout. That being said, there seems to be a ton of room up front, and with only 50hrs, it's just now broken in! I think if he could get it for $20K or less, it'd probably be a decent deal. Would be a pretty good boat for use on almost all Oklahoma lakes, with the only downfall being Grand Lake weekends on the busy side of the lake as that hull isn't the best for chopping through 30' cruiser wakes/chop. There isn't much that is good at those kinds of waters short of an offshore powerboat or another cruiser, lol. It's priced right for what a Rinker is, a decent mid-tier boat.

The other item about MPI vs. carbs is the bilge fuel fumes. It's not a major factor, but the MPI does keep everything contained so that it reduces chances of a bilge explosion due to a flooded carb, backfire, etc.

Yeah it is an interesting hull design. I think it is Rinker that actually makes that same design way down in their 18 foot model. I know Chaparral, and probably at least a few others offer that sort of hybrid hull but i'm drawing a blank on the names.
I just struggle with the look but I'm sure it's one of those things where you don't know what you are missing out on until you own one. 50 hours is just past the 'break in' service requirement so you don't have to worry about servicing for probably 50 more hours besides possible winterizing if it follows my 4.3 service schedule presuming it received the service at the interval.

If you look at retail pricing for just about any small, inexpensive bowrider that includes a trailer, a 20k Rinker like this would be a steal. Used is definitly the way to go with deals like that. Certainly nobody pays retail but...

That boat will pull anyone out of the water without issue. Probably a great mix of power and efficiency for that boat, although no one ever complains about a 5.7 or bigger in a 20'er, lol. Wakeboard towers are fine, but until you get someone who knows what they're doing on a wakeboard, it doesn't make a lot of difference. It starts becoming an issue with aerial tricks, which probably 70% of people who wakeboard don't attempt more than once, lol.

Going to look at her on Saturday, hopefully get to take her out. They are waiting on a new plug so it might have to wait. The guy I've been talking to said someone offered $21,500 and his sales manager said "he thought we could get close to that." But the guy backed out. I was hoping for around 20k but will see.

If it were me, I would perform a full service on it before I took it out anyway, just for piece of mind. New boat to me gets completely cleaned/washed/waxed inside and out, fresh fuel, fresh fuel/water/oil and filters, and spark plug inspection/change. It's much easier to spot problems when you have established a baseline. NADA on this boat seemed to be 22K for high retail, so I think 20K or less would be a solid purchase, not a barn-burner by any means, but a good deal assuming everything checks out on it.

Not sure why my last post isnt showing up.

Im going to look at her on Saturday hopefully be able to take it out. They are waiting on a drain plug that had to be replaced so it might have to wait. Waiting for a drain plug? If this is a drain plug for the transom, they can be picked up at wal-mart for $5 or less. If it's something on the engine I might be more concerned. Hopefully he didn't mean freeze (core) plug.

It was the water distribution housing assembly, it had a crack in it. Is that something to worry about. Guy talked to his boss and said he would give it to me for $21,440 and would allow me to lake test it. Not bad i think.

Water distribution for what?! Is he talking about the thermostat housing on the engine?

Ok, talked to the guy and the way he explained it was--its a plastic piece that helps the flow of water to cool the block, where the water drains when its winterized. Does that make sense cause this is coming from me, a dummy when it comes to anything mechanical.

Trim,
The Rinker looks great. The hull design lends to great handling and stability on turns especially pulling that tube or board rider. It gets less impressive with the chop / wakes from larger boats down on my end of Grand Lake. Above Honey Creek - not an issue. But from Honey Creek / Shangri La down to the dam, you'll probably be cruising slower. But then, any 21' boat will have that issue.
Dean's RV has already established their bottom dollar when they took it in trade - and they don't want it on their lot. Your job will be to find that bottom dollar, go work 'em over. If you're not completely happy with the deal, walk away. There's plenty of others out there.

Good Luck.

He'd be fine on the other side of Governors Island on up through Horse Creek , too, that can put him south of Shangri-La, lol.

NONONO what I'm saying is don't let the dealer know you think this is the one, "you have plenty of options" is what you want the dealer to think, even if your heart jumps out of your chest when you see the boat and you fall in love with it immediately POKER FACE!!LOL Its tough I've been there,

Make the dealer sell you this boat...
