That's actually kind of a hybrid hull. It's not what I would consider a deckboat, mainly due to the interior layout. That being said, there seems to be a ton of room up front, and with only 50hrs, it's just now broken in! I think if he could get it for $20K or less, it'd probably be a decent deal. Would be a pretty good boat for use on almost all Oklahoma lakes, with the only downfall being Grand Lake weekends on the busy side of the lake as that hull isn't the best for chopping through 30' cruiser wakes/chop. There isn't much that is good at those kinds of waters short of an offshore powerboat or another cruiser, lol. It's priced right for what a Rinker is, a decent mid-tier boat.
The other item about MPI vs. carbs is the bilge fuel fumes. It's not a major factor, but the MPI does keep everything contained so that it reduces chances of a bilge explosion due to a flooded carb, backfire, etc.
Yeah it is an interesting hull design. I think it is Rinker that actually makes that same design way down in their 18 foot model. I know Chaparral, and probably at least a few others offer that sort of hybrid hull but i'm drawing a blank on the names.
I just struggle with the look but I'm sure it's one of those things where you don't know what you are missing out on until you own one. 50 hours is just past the 'break in' service requirement so you don't have to worry about servicing for probably 50 more hours besides possible winterizing if it follows my 4.3 service schedule presuming it received the service at the interval.
If you look at retail pricing for just about any small, inexpensive bowrider that includes a trailer, a 20k Rinker like this would be a steal. Used is definitly the way to go with deals like that. Certainly nobody pays retail but...
Trim,
The Rinker looks great. The hull design lends to great handling and stability on turns especially pulling that tube or board rider. It gets less impressive with the chop / wakes from larger boats down on my end of Grand Lake. Above Honey Creek - not an issue. But from Honey Creek / Shangri La down to the dam, you'll probably be cruising slower. But then, any 21' boat will have that issue.
Dean's RV has already established their bottom dollar when they took it in trade - and they don't want it on their lot. Your job will be to find that bottom dollar, go work 'em over. If you're not completely happy with the deal, walk away. There's plenty of others out there.
Good Luck.
I think this boat might be the one, hopefully everything checks out this weekend.
