Hey Roscoe, I haven't used either, but I did do some reasearch before I bought a navman. Both are made by the same company, the lowrance is the higher end model and is nema compatible. It uses navionics cards, along with some others, and map create for a pc.Personaly I would only buy a model that is nema compatible, within a few years you will only able to a dcs vhf radio, and will need to be able to hook it to your gps for it to work properly.

Jim

OK, got the NMEA 0183 thing, feeding into the dcs radio, all figured out.

Doubt I will ever have such a radio, but good to know.

I just bought the Eagle 500c.
It is basically a 480, but color, and nmea compliant.
Found it at a great price.

Anyone want to buy my handheld gps?
