Lost a good one today.
Known Scott for quite a few years, our sons have gone to school and Scouts together since pre-K. He had surgery for lung cancer about 5 years ago, then chemo, then later brain surgery (cancer), more chemo, then a short break, then busted his back (weakened bones), then more lung surgery and chemo. He just flat gave out today.
Through all of this he was a remarkable man. Here's a little story:
We're out camping last spring in scouts, and Scott has this tent that has really seen better days. We get it all set up, and that night comes a really hard rain. Their tent was full of water, everything was soaked, and they all spent the night in their truck. We were kind of moaning about the mud and stuff in the morning after, and Scott, with everything soaked, having slept or not slept in the truck all night with the wife and two kids, has the biggest smile on his face looking around at the campsite with all of the kids and families around having time together, says this will be a great and wonderful day with our families, what's a little rain? And it was a beautiful day to be alive.
RIP Scotty. See you on the flip side.
