I have a 96 Johnson 225 (VRO) I Disconnected the four wire prong from pump and plugged off the oil line from tank. I have 4 lights, check engine, overheat, low oil, no oil. They do a short test when I turn on the key and all turn off except the Low Oil light. The tank is empty and the low oil light is working how do I make it stop working? :)

Tim...

Disconnect the wires at the reservoir or under the engine cowl.I'm assuming that you are bypassing the VRO and using it as a 50:1 pumper. If so,insure that the oil inlet "at" the vro pump is plugged or capped off securely.

Hey Thanks. Yes, I want to go to the 50:1 method. Did I do it right?

1. Disconnect the four wire prong at the pump
2. Tape off both connectors with electrical tape
3. Plug off pump inlet
4. Disconnect the two wires that run from the reservoir

If you haven't run the engine yet you'll want to disconnect the fuel line nearest the vro pump and after mixing 50:1 in fuel tank pump the primer ball until you can detect a hint of oil in the fuel before the pump. Then reconnect fuel line. This will assure that the engine will not be initially starved of oil on startup after the disabling procedure. You'll also want to insure that the overheat alarms are still operable by locating the two tan temp sensor leads at the top of each cylinder bank and with the key in the "on"position ,(engine not running)ground them one at a time to the block metal and verify that the overheat alarm and or light comes on.You can either peel back the insulation on the tan wire connector or back probe the tan wire connector with a piece of wire to perform the test.

Thanks ob :)
If it would stop raining for five minuets I'll do that test I don't know if that sensor ever worked or not. Glad that you mentioned it.

Tim
