I assume he is talking about the 1983 60hp he asked about in an older post. Yes, the charging system consists of the stator, a rectifier, and possibly a voltage regulator. And the associated wireing. Your old post suggests you have wireing issues. That can blow the rectifier. At least that is far and away more likely than a bad stator. The stator can be tested on the motor without taking it apart. But test the rectifier first. Make sure the wires and connections are first class before you install a new one or you will blow that one too.
where is the rectifier located and how do i test? Also does anyone have a wiring diagram for a 1983 60hp evinrude? Where can i get a new rectifier? Thanx in advance.
Seems like it would. I'd have to ponder on that one a bit. Just another diode pair in there that would not be used???
But why?? You getting a good deal on one or something?
