Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander
Moved on and prepared for Gluvit, washed it with 50/50 mix of vinegar after using a stainless 6" stringer bead wire wheel on a grinder to rough it up, then moved over to the hoist to tighten up some rivets. I could not get under the boat with it on my cart, here is a pic of my Half arsed cart I built, Function over Fashion
up on the hoist,
Used 2x4's to help it out
Safety first
Put jack stands at each end and put a Hilo under the end also, NOT FALLING ON ME!
I only had a few rivets showing "leak streaks", Logan and I got underneath on creepers and each took a side and circled in paint pen any suspect rivets, we then switched sides and looked each others side over, Redundancy ya know!
Thanks to DjPeters I had a air rivet hammer to rebuck rivets with, Logan got up in the boat with a sledge hammer and a smaller hammer, AKA bucking bars. I got back on the creeper and voila!
HORRIBLE PIC OPPORTUNITY
Went well, loud and obnoxious but successful !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! May have had one pull through a little, will see when I leak test after gluvit.
