Hey Deke - Nice Boat!

As a duck hunter myself, I must say that I am a fan of your iboats "handle."

Also, if you don't mind me asking - (sorry if you have mentioned it earlier) - but where did you score those seats? I am thinking about going with that type of seating for my boat.

Thanks,
PMC

I got those same seats. Man I cant wait to see how comfortable they are, installed in an Islander, cruising along in one of the Great Lakes, with a cooler full of salmon, smokin a stogie:D

Just sayin;)

And I bet you feel about the same:)

boatersland.com, actually shipped out of clintom Mi. The iboats handle came from my first lab, he was magnumdeke, now I have winchesterdeke, (winnie) we are the deke clan I guess! LOL

So here's a question, what length or grip range do I need to rivet the 1/2" deck down to stringers and rib ends??????

Grab like 3/4" and 1" range (just in case). Bringing the two materials together tight can sometimes be a bit of a pain with rivets that are too short.;)

Guess what, made my mind up today and ordered some goodies,
18 gal tank

Just enough to get one side mocked up and verify this set up will work in my rig!! pumped, got decent prices and should work sweet! I am quite a ways from being ready for seats and tanks but it is all apart of the big picture, and I want to know how it is going to be set up. Got a side job to do the first part of this week that should pay for my paint I need for the hull and interior, I will get this job done and it will be back to rocking out on the boat. paint and flooring for the hull are the two week goal! want to end up with a close copy of this
4975540_4.jpg

I may skip the rear seats and have the seat box go to the end for more storage, same carpet color and end the carpet at the back of the seat box and have painted floor in the rear for a cleanable fishin deck. also will be a floor rod locker running up the center like a ski locker. What ya think?
See ya tomorrow!

Thats the way my 2011 is set up. But my wife won't let me leave the rear seats at home as she says they are the best seats in the house.

No progress lately, kinda been busy with work! on the good side of that, I have been collecting bits and pieces to make it go smooth once the time is available! Most is little stuff that will be seen as it is installed. One big one is the unmentionable expanding SHHHHHHH FOAM!!!!! :D
80 lb, us composites kit.

more part B not shown
Do not know where I am going to fit it all in the boat with the rod locker down the center, gonna have to be creative filling holes!

Man that's a whole lotta expanding foam!

More work = more boat funding & less time to spend it elsewhere ;)

He's alive!
Still kicking, need more hours in a day, two week at a crack stints with work leave me pooped out when I have a day to myself!!!!!
I will be making progress shortly though, now that I missed the summer heat some of what I do will have to be improvised for paint drying and foam expanding!!!

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

Well this going to be a long rambling rant with a not impressive ending, at least that is how it ended up to me, maybe by the end of this post I will feel better! So work schedule is starting to free up a little and I was thinking today I would concentrate on the boat! ahh not so much, I have material in the rack at work to build a couple trailers, kinda slow so go for it,
this is a custom design for our steel workers, hauls tools, welders, yada, yada. Got em framed up this week so I call my sandblaster guy thursday to see when he can fit me in. Next Wendsday, Jim says. Me, well can you fit one in sooner so I can keep on it, (be careful what you ask for Booger) we will see, I will call ya Monday Jim says. Ok. Fri. morning he calls and says get it down here! Moral of the story is Saturday shot, cant let trailer set unpainted all weekend, would be orange by Monday, (takes about 6 to7 hours to prime and paint) soooo bright idea, Ill multi task and get a paint prep crew together, (my boys) and I will over see them and get my job done for work! Wanted to get primer on the boat so I can get the bottom painted and put it on the trailer for good. So picked up my (hung over it seems) paint prep crew up and the boat this morning and headed in.
WOW THAT UP THERE WAS LONG WINDED. MY BAD!
Had to get her off the trailer and turtle it, so the boys braced it up
100_1767.jpg

set some lumber on the floor and puled it off the trailer
100_1768.jpg

WOW, takes a little more effort to flip it with the transom and out board bracket on it! Got it though.
100_1770.jpg

While they were bracing it up, before the flip, I grabbed some steel and a couple casters and seriously improved upon the previous cart I had
100_1766.jpg

and a little Hilo action.

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

And ended up with this!
100_1773.jpg

MUCH better cart, pushed it outside and around the building to the wash bay easily! WOO HOO!
So its been outside with no cover, dirty inside, might as well wash it out. LOL
Glad this isn't me.
100_1775.jpg

Mean while this is what I got going on,
100_1781.jpg

on this,
100_1779.jpg

So the boys get going on sanding the bottom, hooked em up with some 36 grit with the intention of stripping the paint completely off of the bottom, ya right. wanted to put a layer of Coat-It on the bottom as insurance against leaks and to protect it from beaching. Don't think that's going to happen, this 36 year old paint is tough and I really don't want to mess with stripper, gonna have to think about it.
100_1789.jpg

100_1787.jpg

They got three hours into sanding and not really making progress enough to put the coat it on, says it needs paint removed to apply, might skip it and paint it.

Re: Magnumdekes 1976 22' Starcraft Islander

Ya, if it's that hard to get off I'd leave it too. I wouldn't worry about leaks with the inside being done.

That is one serious trailer you are building.....
