I would like to know the hole diameter of the main jet on the 9.5 hp motor.

I am going to try and clean my main jet without removing it from the motor. I dont want to disturb the gasket and seal I have on the bottom of the carb. I have the carb bowl soaking with an ounce of carb cleaner (top of carb removed. no plastic in soak) after soaking I will remove the drain plug and I want to push a wire through the main jet which is obscured by the lower cowl of the motor. If I know the diameter of the hole I can push a wire through. PS. I have mikes etc. to measure my wire.
thanks for your help. this thing is driving me nuts but I think I am gaining on it.

The proper manual will give you the size....but cutting as many corners as it seems you are doing, why worry about cleaning the main jet?
If your main jet is suspect, you are probably wasting your time. There are a host of nooks, crannies, and blind corners etc. that will not get cleaned by what you are doing, and likelyb have the same build-up as the main jet.
Do yourself a favour and take the carb off, dismantle, and do it right.

i always remove my jets, clean them, and run stranded copper wire thru them to be sure they are clean.

Thanks to everyone. The carb soak and jet cleaning has done the trick! Its finally running, and starts pretty easy too. Now with her in the water barrel and running, no water coming out the p hole. Shut her down and there is a mud dobber wasp nest pluggin the holes I'm gettin it out slow but I think I will have to put the rabbit ears on it and try and flush it out (with motor running) Probably will need a new impeller too. I'm only running it for 5-10seconds)

thanks again for everyones comments.

You really need to run the 9.5 in a large bucket or barrel with the water level above the water pump. The main water intake is the cylindrical screen above the propeller so muffs can't cover it.

I'd suggest taking the lower unit off, replacing the impeller, check the housing and clear out the nest and other crap while you have it off. It's a lot easier to clean out the passages with the LU off.
