Man, I sign off for a few minutes to get some work done and whammo... Awesome advice appears out of nowhere...much like the Go-Kart....

You will note the bow rope tied around the front of the go kart... That is what was wrapped around my waist as I was dragging this thing out of the woods - like the ox that I am  - (through a briar patch and over a log) with a 7 year old spazzing out and asking me a million questions about "when he could ride it." I was like, son, I think she needs a bit of work before we get to that point... Calm down grasshopper...

And, yes, Mrs. PMC has formally accused me of having a man-crush on several of you guys... She even accused me of dressing like Jason ("you just wear those overalls to be like your friend in Michigan who was yelling on his maiden voyage").

My response: "And your point is....?" (oh wait, I was supposed to deny that wasn't I).

Thanks Oops, thanks Jas, thanks JBC!

Both are exactly like manna from heaven:D

Come on dad, can't yeah just ratchet strap the rear tires into the bucket on your handy dandy engine hoist & push the cart around the barn yard?? seat belts, helmets & personal airbags required..........Video prohibited to protect the guilty.....

Glad oops was able to give ya what sounds like some reassuring advice....

Hey Patrick glad to see the videos and the progress, not to mention the "Found" go kart...

I have not done much on my IMP because i basically noticed several areas aroudn the old OMC LARGE hole that is not attached to the trasom either. SO i am glad to see you going through this as it will help me since i am bout to grind and fair the outside of the transom now before i do anymore glassing on the inside. I also hate it for you since you ahve to go through it. since oops! as replied it has helped me out as well. Guess we are going to suffer this part toghether, although you are still making progress on yours.

Patrick, I just caught up on the last 7-10 pages of your thread, as I haven't been on iboats in a while. Looking good man, looking good! Although, I have to say, I don't know if your working facilities are conducive to you focusing on your boat! LOL... You are distracted by to many toys and other projects! :D

I'm anxiously awaiting more updates, pictures, and videos... Good luck, keep up the great work!

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

awesome find pm! You gotta convert that go-kart to an amphibious assault landing vehicle that can be launched from the boat to shore. It looks like it's half way there with the big tires. best of all the price was right.....FREE! Cheers!

Thanks Kfa, glad you stopped by... I like the way you are thinking.... Hopefully, I can get it running soon.

Progress man, cool!:D

That transom from the Starcraft is scary. Hard to imagine that could hold anything in place, yikes:eek:

You did a great service by cutting up that glass boat. Now, don't you feel good;)

Yes, the transom was really scary... and, yes, it did feel good to start putting it out of its misery...

Bet you are feeling good about that first layer of CSM on the inner transom! Great job, love the gloves......just a tip...keep a mixing bucket with clean fresh acetone in it and a rag...dip the rag, wipe the gloves, maybe a few less will be used...
Bummer on the outer skin, but better that you found it and are taking care of it...also, remember to save yourself a few seconds of work by not worrying too much about glassing where the keyhole is going to be...you will be cutting it out and having to re-glass all the edges anyway...

Excellent score on the cart...definitely nice with the 8 HP Honda engine...little maintenance and Robert will have one heck of a fun toy...definitely have him wear a helmet...

As always, thanks for sharing and best regards,
Gus

Thanks for the tip GT - that's a good idea. Yes, it was nice to get that first layer of CSM down... I found that the regular foam roller really did good. I really did not have a lot of air pockets... I do need to build up right to the key hole, because my board is only 1.5 inches. I saved the other .5 for FB build-up, new gel coat, etc... So, I'll probably just glass the whole thing and then cut out the new key hole and then water-proof the cut-out.

Yes, we'll get through it... and our boats will be better for it... You need to keep shopping for that donor. You could be working on your new power while you are playing with that blue, tin boat-lokking, thingy of yours...

Guns.. glad to have you back. Funny, I actually thought about you the other day... Weren't you doing an engine rebuild to fix a crack in a black or manifold or something, or did I dream that. How's that coming along?

i may just put twin 120hp 4 cylinders in it to get the 8 cylinders i am looking for. I am BELOW the JO bottom feeder price for the donor i need.

I'm glad to be back, thanks Patrick! Yes, you are right. I'm still at work on the motor. I don't want to hijack your thread with details, but I have recently updated my thread. Come check it out...

Re: Man vs. Boat (season 1).

Yes, it was a good time indeed. Still tired... I should have some time to get back out to the boat this weekend. I will be interested to see how my CSM layup on the transom turned out.

I have purchased new Auruco for the stringers, since my 3/4 AC fir warped beyond salvage... Nice to have a 400 stack of firewood scraps (ughh...maybe I can use them for miscellaneous pieces like buik heads or seats where they can be straightened with some fasteners...

Hope everyone is well and look forward to reporting back with some progress reports soon.

sorry bout the ply patric....

yes....the warped ply can be used in small sections where the warp is less pronounced and if the wiood is used in a non critical area, the slight bend wont matter....

but just think......with the left overs....you can make a really wierd doll house for your daughter.
batman might even get that wavy wagon he wanted for behind the go kart....lol
