I just got a copy of my brackets for the NCAA b-ball tourney for our office pool. I really only watch during the championship week and then the big dance (unless there is a match up of two top 5 teams during the regular season).

Is anyone else in a pool, and who are your final four teams?

Sorry Carp, just can't see Louisville going anywhere, I even have them losing in the first round to Xavier. :(

My final four is Duke, UConn, Oklahoma St., and Gonzaga.

Oklahoma St. beating UConn in the finals.

Re: March Madness

Injuries killed Louisville. One good thing is, Louisville has been on the way up and getting healthy again, and having this week off could do them wonders. I wouldn't necessarily count them out just yet.

I have not filled mine out yet, but I believe that if Uconn is healthy, then they are the team to beat, IMO.

I will go with my heart and have Louisville going a couple of rounds. Guess you see why I never win at work. :p

Re: March Madness

I don't know if you have seen the bracket yet, but I am really tempted to take Cinci out of Atlanta, but I wussed out. Duke is the only #1 seed I have (I like Cinci).

Did you happen to see the run Maryland put on in it's last 3 games? They pulled a 4 seed for it-"Unbelievable Baby"(****ie V accent).

Ricky V doesn't cut it...It's ****ie V

Re: March Madness

Dic#ie V sure gets on my nerves. Its always Duke this, and Duke that with him, makes me sick................sick I tell ya!

Notice that the majority of the games he does on ESPN are for the ACC conference................can you say BIASED!

I wouldn't get too excited about Cinci, ........Huggins ranks as one of the worst coaches in the tournament at losing to a lower seed. They were one shot away, both times, from losing to Louisville on their court.
(BTW, Louisville beat them at Freedom Hall by 30)!

Cards all the way BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

That was a long time ago my friend. Last I looked Cincy beat them twice in a row. The last two games the Cards barely scored 60 pts. Gaugeguy is right they won't make it past Xavier. E Tenn taking the Bearcats in the first round, well I'll eat my hat! Bearcats to the "Maxiell" .......Baby. As for D!ck, well I use to not like Howard Cosell, til he was gone than I missed him. Don't know if I'll miss D!ck though. Gaugeguy, really going out on a limb with those picks  Ok State has no bench, won't happen. Probably won't make it past Memphis. Like your Gonzaga pick though :)

Re: March Madness

C'mon Tylerin, both their wins over Louisville came in Cincinnati, and Louisville's star players were hurting.............yet they barely won. Hardly something to get excited about. ;)

At least a healthy Louisville took care of business like they were supposed to on their court...................30 points I believe. :p

Cinci will win the first round game, but I believe Illinois will take 'em out in the second.

Tylerin, nobody on ESPN, or anywhere, is giving Louisville a chance against Xavier. Big mistake in my estimation. Remember, that Louisville was 16-1 at one point and ranked #4 before they were hit with injuries to the two best players on the team. Louisville is healthy again. I sure wouldn't want to bet against 'em.

Louisville by 6! ;)

Re: March Madness

No offense Carp, but all you have talked about is the first half of the season. They lost 6 out of 7 games after that. If I'm coaching I contain Garcia and the game is mine. We all know they can't play without him. As for the 30 pt win, well even the blind squirel gathers nuts :D

Re: March Madness

Having no bench in the big dance is not that big of a deal, the time outs are 2 and a half minutes long. TV time outs every 4 minutes, lotta time to suck some air. I think OK St. is way better than anyone else in their bracket, if they can beat Pitt in the round of 32, it's a cakewalk to the final four.

My big upsets are Manhattan(12 seed) going to the Sweet 16, W. Michigan (11 seed) beating Vandy and Dayton (10 seed) beating Depaul.

BTW I like Dayton as well, born at Wright Patterson AFB outside Dayton (living in Cincy) I've always been quite fond of them

Re: March Madness

Well lets see Tylerin, what was different about the first half of the season compared to the second half of the season for Louisville?

INJURIES!

Take the top two players from any team in the country, and saddle them with injuries, and see how many games they win. Cinci, take Maxiell and Bobbitt out of the line-up, .......Uconn, take Okafor and Gordon out of the line-up, and so on and so forth.

The first half of the season showed you what Louisville was capable of when they are healthy.
They are healthy again.

That "blind squirrel" beat #1 Kentucky at Kentucky, blew out a good Cinci team at home, beat Florida when they were unbeaten and #1, and beat 6 other teams that are now in the tournament.

Thats 9 wins against teams currently in the NCAA Tournament.

Injuries are the reason they started losing, and now Garcia is 100%, Dean is about 95%, Whitehead is 100%.

Its an uphill battle for my Cards, but what kind of fan would I be if I turned against them now. ;)

Louisville....still by 6.

Re: March Madness

Hey Carp just giving you a hard time. And I agree with mostly everything you said, except that I don't think Garcia is healthy (100%) They scored 58 points in they're last game. If thats all you can score you'd better show up with some D-fence :D

Re: March Madness

I'm just talkin smack too Tylerin. :D

What the heck do I know, I picked the Titans to win the Superbowl.

Cinci said their focus was to shut down Garcia. He scored 28 points in that game, and was clearly the best player on the court. Its just scary to think he could do that at less than 100%. ;)

(BTW, he scored 22 in the game before Cinci).

I think Dean has to step up for Louisville to have a chance. If Garcia can just keep playing the way he's been playing, and Dean can knock down a few three's, then I think Louisville can win.

Garcia can score 30, but if he doesn't get any help they will lose.

(BTW again, Louisville ranks 3rd in the country in field goal defense, which means they hold their opponents to a very low shooting percentage.................so, they will be bringing the D-fence). :p
