Re: Maxi fuse
fuses are diffrent than breakers.
a fuse is nothing more than a wire that is designed to heat up at a certain ampage until it fails. they are designated as instant, time delayed and current limiting amoung other things
a breaker is either thermal or magnetic or both. they work by either winding a wire around a pin to make a magnet that will unlatch the breaker or they have a wire that will heat a soldered connection or metal strip to unlatch the breaker.
a trolling motor may cause a surge when starting that will overload a fuse for point something of a second that may cause the fuse to blow unless it is a time delayed fuse. a breaker generally is slower to respond so it rides out this surge better.
will it matter on your boat....proberly not but i would surgest the largest fuse the trolling motor and wiring on the boat allows.
