Looking for some expert advice...Pulled the outdrive to check things on the checkmate after it's maiden voyage....I thought something Wasn’t right……when I drained the lube there was water in the lube…..when I pulled the drive there was gear lube in the bellows but no water. The drive bellows looks new. So I need to replace the upper drive gear lube seal.
Bought a spanner wrench and took the upper drive gear assemble out last night.

- Obviously need a new seal..there is a 3/32” gap under the lip in-between the shaft and lip.
- Not really a groove, but there is a step down where the seal rides compared to the rough surface where the seal does not rest.
- Need to replace the u - joints
- The intermitted shift shaft…you can pull up on the shoe and move it side to side about a 1/8”
- In the upper housing there is a black mark where the outer bearing rides in the housing....no groves, just a black mark.
