The gear came off easily with a slight pry if that makes a difference.
There's a 3.8" and 2.25" ring between the bearings if those are the ones you mean. By hand pressure I meant a very slight pry with a screwdriver to get it started and then it slid apart.
When you shim the vert gear and check it with the tool and set the height of the vert and length of the horiz gears . That's why you should have found some shims in the horiz shaft. or still in the case. You can reuse the nut but when its tightened hit 3 sides of the nut with a edge of a flat chisel.to stake it.
