Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

My father's 1987 17' Imperial V174 with a 120 Mercruiser: "A Ta 2" The first A Ta was a 14' Penn Yan Quester with a 1962 40hp Johnson. When I was a kid I named it May Tag. Being influenced by the May Tag commercials and their dependability slogan I decided it was a good name for this reliable boat. I found the name to be corny as I got older. I took a razor blade and tried to pull all the letters off. I got the M and the Y off in May and the G off in Tag. At that point, I renamed her A Ta. My wife hates it when people ask and I tell the story.

My 1990 Four Winns Freedom 195: "Priority 1" Named in the context that boating, for my wife and I, is the most important thing when the lake isn't frozen.

My 1999 13' Duranautic with a 99' 15hp Johnson: "Scoot" You really have to hang on for the hole shot on this boat. Given the hull size and the max'd hp, she is the fastest 13 footer on the lake. Scoot just fit the way she goes.

My brother-in-laws 1985 23' O'Day day sailer: "Breeze to Breeze" This name was taken from a poem his brother had written as a kid. He was tragically killed in a car accident at 22 and my brother-in-law wanted to commemorate his memory.

My 1967 12' Starcraft aluminum boat: "Lump Lump" It what my sister called me as a baby. I was very fat. Now the only fat I have is the beer trophy in my mid-section.

We're trying to come up with a name for our 19 foot key west. The front runner is "Top Seacret"

I also thought about "Fail Boat", but I figured that would be just asking for trouble.

Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

Just recently I have come across another name that I think is kinda cutesy if you have younger children. How about:

BO-AT

If those kids (or you for that matter) watch the Phineas and Ferb cartoons on the Disney channel you might know that this means

Buoyancy Operated - Aquatic Transport

My son is intent on painting our row boat red and naming it ROHO.
The sailboat is Golden Dream (a dream to set sail one day, but not on the 14' daysailer)
The 20' Bow Rider - we are still thinking about it.

Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

There is one here in Trinidad that just stuck with me

JAFETICA

just,another,f*ing,expensive, toy,i,cannot,afford.

my first boat was a 15ft Glastron with about 150hp, so she was called lil2much
the next one that was named was NO FUSS for a new out look on life i have.
Now that i have gone to 29ft from 18ft, i just put the word "still" diagonally over the N in green as the last boat was green. and then used the same NO FUSS name. So i now have still no fuss :)

Re: Memorable Boat names you have seen

Our last boat was "Northern Rebel" - kinda fit at the time.
My 12' wooden duck boat is "Lil Duck" (I wanted "Lil Woodie" as in Wood Duck, but it didn't go over too well at home!
Our new boat is either going to be "Bailey's Launch" (Bailey is our yellow lab), or "G F R ?" - Bailey knows all too well what it means when we ask her if she wants to Go For a Ride? We find when we are planning an outing, we have to spell out GFR so she doesn't get so excited.
