merc 150 tilt and trim?

I have a 1977 merc 1500 sr#4750278 and the limit switch needs to be replaced at the transom clamp.Can anyone tell how to go about it.I can't seem to find any info on how to do it.

According to the exploded parts diaghram, it is removeable. However it is also no longer available. It seems to me that you would need to remove the top pivot bolt of the starboard trim cylinder, and you should see two screws holding it on. There is an adjustable screw and stainless plate that needs to come off as well.

Why not just bypass it? If you find the place in the PTT wiring harness, you can unplug the switches two bullet connectors, and fashion a jumper wire to connect the wires in the harness.

I did just that put a jumper in place of the wires.I had aquired a parts motor with a good switch and was wondering what was envoled with switching it out.Thanks for the info i think I'll just leave the way it is.
