I can hear it now you all are gonna love this one. First off the wiring on this engine was not good so I just need to make sure that I am correctly identifying what I have done to start the motor.

Here is the reference for wiring:
http://www.maxrules.com/oldmercs/Wiring/1966ona/35.pdf

I have connected the Red, White, Brown, and Yellow(Starter Solenoid) wires to the 12v battery via a switch system. The yellow is on a mometary switch since it just is for the starter.

I need to know what voltage I should be recieving on the green wire from the switch box to the coil which I believe needs to be 100+? Also need to know what voltage I should be recieving from the Red wire off the rectifier and thus from the stator?

I have had it running even a full tank of fuel ran through it but seems to be running cold. So I am replacing all the wires, plug wires, coil wire etc.... in attempt to get it firing better.

So I am checking my switchbox and stator. Can anybody tell me what the original Salmon wire ran too? It seems to go away at the connection for the housing.

Also is there a hotter plug that I can run to replace the Champion L78V's preferibly with an electrode since these are non electrode air gap plugs. And can I use a electode gap plug safely?

This is my plan for the weekend so please let me know if there are any other recommendations.

It seems to try to fire up right away but then after the initial try it wont light up again.
