Well it might be an issue as you want as much leg in the water below the hull as possible. I don't know anyone around here running a short shaft kicker. We all run the long shaft ones. Then again most of us have deep V hulls and that might make a difference. Best to try it out and see if it works for you. If it doesn't then look for a long shaft model. In theory as long as the anti-ventilation plate is below the hull you should be good. In practice it's nice to be a few inches lower than that.
Perhaps someone with the same model of boat could answer you question.

I have been thinking more about the steering setup as I'm getting closer to having everything mounted, and this makes much more sense now.
Input please; my main engine is a long shaft and I now have a 20 in transom, my kicker has a 15in shaft...
I was not to worried about this as I had been running with a kicker mount that held the engine up a bit higher than the 20in transom sits...
Raising up another 2in may be an issue?
