Re: merc jet pump impeller removal???
Sorry about the late reply and thanks for the imput.Zamboni, funny you mentioned JB weld, since I knew I was probably going to replace the sleeve in my shoe I mixed up some and applied a thin coat to cover the pit marks and smooth out the wear ring.Seemed to work pretty cool!!Oh and D,I didn't mention earlier,I just bought this motor and boat this spring from a older gentlemen that ran it on a river, where he lived, 5miles from the ocean and I assume he ran it in the bay area and did not do much adjustments to the impellar if any..I'm planning on researching this alittle more on the net before a second attempt and I'll let you know the outcome. One thing I will add, while working on the impellar the first time,I noticed a small, maybe 1/8in. hole half way up the impellar???I'm thinking about spraying some thread lube into it with the motor in the down position,a few days before I disasemble it,may help???Thanks again for all the help,Bruce......
(New update)........
Well springer Salmon is just around the corner,so any help with my repair would be greatly appreciated...,I have a feeling I may have to distroy my impellar to remove it,it just WILL NOT come loose!!!!Rodbolt, after a little research,I found out that I may pos.have a brass insert instead of a plastic one and may be/y the impellar refuses to come loose...I need to locate replacement parts,i.e.,new impellar and bushing and possibly a new shoe.Again, any help locating would be appreciated.Eng. model is 1991,merc,4cyl,jetdrive...Thanks,Bruce
