merc to evinrude-need advise

current pontoon with a 115 mer 2 stroke,,,found a 1986 200 evinrude nice deal,,any problems known with this motor,,,are the 200s 4 stroke,,,,how much does it weigh,,,,,about how much faster would my pontoon be with this 200 vs merc 115,,,,thanks evinrude guys.

A 1986 Evinrude is a 2-stroke.
What is the HP rating on the boat?
Motor is 380 lbs (no tilt/trim)

Good motor and what is the make and model of the pontoon? Have you had an inspection on the motor to make sure that it is in good running condition?

A quick off the top of my head guestimate with my calculator says around 20 or 25% faster at top speed, there are really too many unknowns to be more accurate, especially with a pontoon. One thing that is fairly certain is that at full throttle it'll burn nearly 75% more fuel per minute.

pontoon is a 30ft tritoon,,,transom was installed with very heavy duty setup in mind,its attached to middle toon,,,extra bracing under rear,so it being a 2 stroke id still be mixing oil and would prob be as loud as this 115,,gas consumption will be a factor i see,,,are these expensive motors to keep up,build if needed?

1986 was the small bore(2.7) bridgeport motor, they wont idle worth a crap no matter how much carb tinkering and brass you throw at them and love fuel. If you going to go white stay in the 93 and above years. A 60? 175 is the best bang for your buck on that toon...

Only things around right now is the 200ef'si and 250xb we talked about. I have a lead on a 90 model 200looper that needs a lower for $1900
