MerControl Control unit question.

Hey guys I have a little issue with my control unit. It is a MerControl from the early-mid sixties. In the Seloc manual it is described as the "early" version of the shifters. There is a shift/control handle and a neutral throttle lever. The shift lever shifts the gears into F-N-R with no issues at all. When the motor is started, the neutral throttle lever controls the idle very well. When I push the main control lever further into F or R, the idle does not change at all. Does this mean that I have a throttle linkage issue? I was wondering if the main control lever controlled the gears as well as the throttle for this series control box. Thanks as always guys!!

Re: MerControl Control unit question.

Ok fellas, I answered my own question. The main lever puts the motor in gear as well as changes the throttle. Mine was just stuck. I was going to wait til tomorrow, but it was bugging me so I went out and took a closer look. Throttle linkage at the motor was great. I took the control unit apart, and it needed some marine grease in all of the mechanical parts, as well as some oil in the linkage cable. Put everything back together, and the throttle worked great!!

Well then - Nevermind. Glad to some lube fixed it up you. It's nice to have a simple cure on occasion.
