in some ways LPG is SAFER than gasoline... If you lose a gallon of either into your bilge, which boat do you think will have more fumes left in an hour? With a pure gaseous fuel, it is going to dissipate quicker, and once you remove it with a blower, its gone. If you spill a gallon of gasoline, you could completely evacuate the fumes, but 15 minutes later, the remaining spilled fuel has created more than enough vapors to be bad. Come back a week later, and you are still going to have liquid fuel in the bilge.
And besides, if a guy is going through the cost to install a full LPG system, a flammable gas detector is cheap insurance.
