Do you guys understand that this is quite common in the UK? That Gasoline vapors are just as flammable? That both are heavier than air and settle in the bilge? That there are norms in other countries that may seem odd to us, but do not necessarily make them bad? You should see what they tow with a car in the UK and Australia. To us crazy, to them normal. Define why LPG is more dangerous than Gasoline? Do you have an LP BBQ? A Gasoline fueled one would seem pretty scary, huh?

Agreed, QC. LPG is no more dangerous than gasoline. Now I will say that doing a conversion can be risky if a bunch of random parts are thrown together to jury rig it. Really, the only downside to LPG/CNG is the energy density which make for large pressure tanks in order to store a reasonable amount of fuel.

in some ways LPG is SAFER than gasoline... If you lose a gallon of either into your bilge, which boat do you think will have more fumes left in an hour? With a pure gaseous fuel, it is going to dissipate quicker, and once you remove it with a blower, its gone. If you spill a gallon of gasoline, you could completely evacuate the fumes, but 15 minutes later, the remaining spilled fuel has created more than enough vapors to be bad. Come back a week later, and you are still going to have liquid fuel in the bilge.

And besides, if a guy is going through the cost to install a full LPG system, a flammable gas detector is cheap insurance.
