mercruiser alpha coupler assembly problems

my coupler assembly burned out we replaced it went out on the water and it burned out again. does anyone have any ideas what could lead to this problem?

Did you align it when you changed it?

How are your stringers?

guess i posted in the wrong section. but since ur askin no we didnt check the alignment and today when we took it apart we were wonderin if that had something to do with it. so i assume alignment is pretty important?

and if u mean stringers of fish.....we were at laguna madre for just a few hrs and we took home a 20 in black drum and 2 16 in gafftops!

alignment has to be on and the rear mounts are rubber that may break away from itself so pull motor and check your rear mounts and align,should slide on easy to about 1/8 inch. bar should slide in easy. repost in the right section if you need more help.
