Mercruiser Trim Cylinder Question

I just picked up a project boat and the trim isn't working. Got the pump/motor all cleaned up and bench tested and now it's on to the cylinders. As luck would have it both cylinders were "locked up" in the trailer position. I got one apart and free to rebuild, having trouble with the other.

I'm most likely buying new however am finding some cheap used cylinders (I may use to test the system). Are all alpha 1 gen 1 cylinders the same (I have a 5.7, would a 3.7 cylinder work?)?

Thanks!

I wonder if there is a way to determine compatible models? I have seen quite a few used options but no guarantee they will work.

Would most/all Alpha 1 (gen 1) cylinders work? There are lots of used options out there but I would hate to buy something I can't use.
