Mercury 1500 L6 Carb

How far is the throttle plate supposed to open in the carb? Mine does not open very far at all. It will rev up fine out of water but will die on the hole shot and will never hit WOT.

All throttle plates should be open so that you can see the back of the carb at WOT.
Like looking at a knife edge.

so it should be completley flat then? like i cannot see the side at all?
how do i fix this then?

Correct. You will need to see what part of the linkage is limiting the travel. Start right at the carbs and work your way back to the engine/control cable connection. (Disconnect the control cables)
