quick and simple question
ive got a 1968 9.8 Twin mercury that i just got and finished repairing
ive got a mid 80s model 15 hp evinrude that i use on my 14 foot john boat this motor pushes 2 men 200+ , tackle, gear, and 2 marine batterys 23.9 mph (gps) i was very impressed with the power this motor has BUT
Ive run this 9.8 mercury in a holding tank NEVER ON A BOAT and oh my this thing screams... Just listening to her run in the tank she sounds like she is turning 2 or 3 thousand rpms higher than the 15 hp evinrude... i currently have this motor up for sale without even trying it on my boat.. am i making a mistake ?
is this really a 9.8 or is it like a 20 hp do the old motors have more power than the newer ? should i be selling this motor ?
