SO there was NO water in the lower unit. Correct?
I've read all the posts.
Never seen a drive shaft that corroded, that was not in salt water.
How is your tell tale flow? and cool?

Tell tale looks perfect. Picks up and starts spitting within 3-4 sec it seems. nice steady stream. No water in the lower unit after initial inspection then 2 re-lubes. No salt water that I am aware of, I'll have to ask my uncle. Nothing else looks corroded on the motor at all.

Didn't mean to scare you, Sorry.
I guess if there is no water in the LU and you have good pee stream you are good to go.

You wascawy wabbit. Had me worried there. So the stuff you see in those pics is nothing to worry about? I'll just keep an eye on it being new to me anyhow. Thanks for your help and I hope this helps someone else.

Who are you? Mel Blanc?
I would still monitor your LU for water intrusion.
To be on the safe side.
Apparently your drive shaft is in better shape in the pump than is on the outside.
and thats all that counts.
I have had to recondition a few drive shafts that looked better than yours.
Safe boating Mel. Sorry for the loss of sleep.

haha :p Yeah the impeller went on without much trouble. All sat in there nice so. Surprised me a bit that theres no gasket between top and bottom waterpump housing. I'll definitely watch the LU. A couple quarts of oil costs alot less than a new lower unit... Sleep?? Who needs sleep!?!!(actually I do since I plan to be on the lake by sunrise!) :) Thanks for the input :p Peace of mind is alot more valuable than a few hours sleep anyhow in my book! Cheers!
