my minn kota AT48 doesnt seem to give any power on the lower settings? When maxed out the power is still weak? im running it on a pretty big battery..maybe i need more voltage? does the shaft have to go directly on the bow? or can i put it on the side of the bow? i am not familiar with it because it came with a boat i recently purchased. what does "mom" and "con" do, as well as the button on the foot switch? there is a battery gauge thing on the side.. its worn so i cant read it.. any help would be great.. thanks

What size wires do you have running to the troller and how far is it from the battery?

The wires have a pretty big cross sectional area. diameter about 1/4 inch, about three feet to the battery. maybe too much resistance?

Your foot pedal is probably shot, real common on older MK's. Fix it now before it fries the control board...which they do quite often.

Take the prop off and check for line wrapped around it. Make sure all connections are clean and tight. Mom means momentary - motor runs only when pushed. Con means constant run.

maybe the DC wires to the foot pedal aren't connected properly, creating some resistance. the foot pedal seems to work fine however.. the motor doesnt seem to be pushing 48# of thrust.

MOM = momentary. That means the motor runs only when you step on the switch on the pedal. CONT = CONTINUOUS. That means the motor runs all the time at whatever speed you have selected. You don't need to step on the pedal to make it go -- that's why they call it continuous. Not very likely but you may have a 24 volt motor. How about a model number??
