Re: MINOR RAMP ACCIDENT- NOW OUTDRIVE PROBS>>>HElP
Its running down the hose from somewhere that I cant see with the outdrive on. Do I need to remove the outdrive and housing to do this? Could it just be a cracked hose? It appears to be attached to a brass nipple. Is that stationary?
It ain't brass! It's nylon. They used to be brass in the early transoms. If you break that fitting, you won't be happy about that either! The aft fitting in the bell housing is brass, not much of a chance to break it.
Anything that has anything with steering & power steering has to be done inside the boat.
If you understood power steering, you would realize that without the engine running you have no power assistance hydraulically from the pump on the front of your engine to the power steering cylinder located at the transom. That doesn't mean start the engine & go back to try to move it by hand, it won't work that way. It's normal for the drives to go left & not right due to valve configuration in the cylinder.
That hose can be changed. It ain't fun but a little patience, you can do it.
