Tool drawer came open under moderate throttle. Need another magnet. It locks but sometimes I don't want it locked. Sounded like wrenchsware being dropped on linoleum.... ha ha......

The fore deck looks really nice...besides the ammonia treatments what else did you do to it?
How did the pitch change affect performance?

Re: Miss Peachtree

Oiling her with teak oil. I've been using an old sock watered down with teak oil on her this time around since I've been here. Then a old somewhat soaking towel with the water wrung out by hand... Tapping the kegerator as I go.

Thirteen pitch was no effort at all for the mighty Ski-Twin. Thinking wondering if the fifteen pitch maximum on this adjustable prop will be enough? There's a 40 pony '69 selectric waiting, yet seems pony's can become redundant...

Re: Miss Peachtree

The sound was right there and the throttle feel was great. Plug look see thirteen pitch at half throttle. Going for this setting with fifteen pitch at full throttle, changing plugs from J8 to J6... Amused draft changed barley an inch doubling ponies. Yet most of the difference was mass of 33 pony lower unit sticking down.... ha ha..... I should be able to argue with any authority figure that this is not quite a fifteen inch transom anymore..... !!!!

Latest things for Miss Peachtree.

Found an old picnic basket, seems to fit well, throw some windbreakers in there?

Tilting trailer works good at my local shallow township launch, with two more rollers side by side in the front there.

Miss Peachtree docked at the Riviera, east bay Houghton Lake. In about 16 inches of water...

Steady as she goes....

Re: Miss Peachtree

After adjustments and testing and tuning back and forth she's about there. In waves the tone of the exhaust fluctuates as the outboard is adjusted up as high as it can be. In calm seas she'll do 27 mile an hour at the maximum 15 pitch prop adjustment. Even though the tach doesn't work, the tone is a working harder sound at 14 pitch than at 15 pich. At virtually the same m.p.h. So by myself I like the 15 pitch better. With a few people in the boat I think the 14 pitch would be better.

I do have a 40 pony selectric Evinrude. But I would like to find a bit more pitch for the few extra ponies. Now I'm wondering if I disassemble the prop and machine it to go to a 16 pitch? It may be able to use the 40 better? Yet the Selectric is the top of the line for 1969. I would like to restore and rebuild it to perfection while the tried and true Ski-Twin is being used. I can see the picture in my head, polished alloy shiny new paint and bright stainless emblems.....

Over the winter I'll start connecting wires to terminals. I have to find another vintage night stand to make a pull out marine compass holder. And there is the box to hold two anchors I must build.

I am so tired of pulling on that rip cord.....

Steady as she goes...

Re: Miss Peachtree

Heading out into the hobby shop to start on the lights. I want the stern light and instrument lights to work on the dimmer switch, a '70's Plymouth Duster light switch. Running lights will be the bow light and headlights will be the spotlight.

I was concerned that the long electrical path would make the starter go slow. It seems to be ok, even though there is thirty six feet of power cable and it is cold out.

This 33 pony Ski-Twin doesn't have a place for a temperature sender. I think I'll have to pull the outside head off and drill and tap it for a gauge sender (teleflex).

Then it's add a sending unit to a gas tank....

Thank goodness there will be no more pulling on that rip cord.... ha....

Your work and attitude looks great and I wish you the best!
You have a keen way of putting ignorance into proper perspectives. Whether others like it or not.
The first thing I sensed from your 1st post was the Sensuous/ness you have for her. Stick with it. Your descriptions are obscure, but yet calming and understandable.
You fell in love with this old gal!
In addition your mechanical apptitude and your parlay is interesting in regards to this forum.
Cool Beans!

Thanks so much kcassells, I needed that.

A friends dad from the old neighborhood always called me a sheenie man when we were young. Now I refer to myself as a sheenie man all the time, this is just what I do.

I can't help but feel different and always try to demonstrate a will to be weird.....

Steady as she goes....
