Re: missing at top speed
I have a '88 Force 125HP on a 19.5' Bayliner Capri.

When it happens again, try squeezing the priming bulb while in full throttle, if this helps its a fuel related problem.

If you still have the original fuel pump diaphragm on your motor, it's probably a good time to replace it.

Mine recently started to hesitating and cutting out at WOT. I cleaned the carb's with Sea Foam Deep Creep spray ($4.99), pulled the plugs and sprayed liberally into each cylinder and let it sit over night. Started the next morning and ran it until it stopped smoking like h..l.

Then disconnected the battery and replaced the fuel pump Diaphragm and Gasket ($4.70), which took about five minutes. The original Diaphragm had stretched out and was not delivering the fuel at higher RPM's. Runs Great again and it was Very simple.

The Diaphragm is inside the Fuel Pump which is located behind the fuel filter.

I idle at 800 to 1000 RPM's, and get 5000 RPM's WOT. Runs about 41 to 42 MPH with a 17 pitch prop, a 1/2 tank of gas and just me in the boat.

Get yourself a Manual and a Teleflex Tach(20pole) it's relatively inexpensive and easy to install. a Tach is a must if you want to do it right.

Regards, KC
