Missus passes basic boating course.

So, I signed me and the missus up for the Pa basic boating course.
8 hours with a fifty question test.
She passed with a 92. I don't think that's bad for a 'lubber. Now for some more advanced courses for her.

get her involved, and time behind the helm. never know when she may need to captain, also can make a monster. i know several guys that have had to buy their wives, the she boat.

Good for her! Florida just passed a law requiring anyone younger than 18 to take and pass a basic boaters test. Could be the thing of the future..actually, I'm sure it is there to generate revenue, so who are they fooling??

How is she at backing up a trailer?
I have worked and worked with the wife and she still won't back up a trailer

tell her, hand at the bottom of the wheel, move hand the direction you want the back of the trailer to go.

She's pretty good for only backing a trailer for the first time last year. As long as she doesn't flustered, or feel like she's holding people up. As soon as the pressure's on she shuts down. We'll be working on that.

That's what my brother taught her also, I learned from the top and it works for me. Tried the bottom a couple times and overcompensate.

Absolutely, I'm braggin on her.

She's not dumb by any stretch, just needs to slow down, ignore people watching that are not helping, and of course practice.

couple of slow afternoons, at the launch you use most. in and out, in and out. practice. also make sure she can see the trailer when the boat is not on it.

Awesome!!! Congrats Mrs.!

My husband, myself and our daughter took the US Power Squadron course at college for a whole semester when we first purchased our boat. I'm so glad we did. I use every bit of what I learned in that course when we're navigating these waters. Even learning sailing navigation helped me understand what to expect when approaching a sail boat in the intercoastal.

It's all good and every boater should have a safety course IMO.

Yeah, I'll get her into some more involved courses as we go along. I definitely didn't want to overwhelm her with a 3 month cours first time out.

Congrats to the misses. My wife and I both have taken a boater safety course (now mandatory in Ontario) at separate times.

I got a 96, she got a 102 (yes, it's possible because she got a bonus answer right too ) Smart women and a safe boater.

The funny part is she got upset with me when she asked me why I don't run the fan in the bilge area after fueling. I told her it wasn't important and a waste of my time, I wanted to be on the water as much as possible and regardless of what some course said, I wasn't going to start.

Man, was she PO'd for safety reasons. I let it go on for a bit, and then told her we own a boat with an outboard

We still laugh about it...

lol i failed my first time then i took it again and barely passed with an 80% lol.
